Constance Volk is a graduate of DePaul University, where she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Flute Performance in 2005. She performs music of many genres; Baroque, Orchestral, and Contemporary, to name a few, throughout the city with a number of highly acclaimed ensembles. She accepts private flute students through the New Music School of Chicago. Constance resides in Chicago with her husband, Caton, and her daughter, Geneva.
Constance began her teaching career in 2003 as woodwind instructor at the Beach Park Band Camp program. She joined the faculty of the New Music School in 2008. Constance teaches students of all ages and all levels of ability, provided they are eager to practice and progress. She provides her students with a well-rounded education, including history and theory, and introduces them to a wide range of repertoire.
Constance is currently principal flute of the New Millennium Orchestra, the Southern Illinois Music Festival Orchestra and a founding member of Ensemble Dal Niente. Constance has performed as soloist with the Advent Chamber Orchestra, the Spokane Symphony, the New Millennium Orchestra and the International Contemporary Ensemble. While Constance considers the flute to be her primary instrument, she has also performed throughout Chicago with her voice, guitar and accordion, at such venues as the Velvet Lounge, the Green Mill, Subterranean, the Hideout, and the Lake Shore Theater. Constance earned the Ella Fitzgerald Award for outstanding vocalist for her performance at the Essentially Ellington Competition at New York’s Lincoln Center.
