Jean McCullough is a member of the Gaudete Brass Quintet and encourages her students to participate in chamber music as well. While private lessons are important for developing a student’s abilities, she feels that sharing these skills while working with others is also key, whether it comes in the student’s participation in large or small ensembles or simply duets with a teacher. Sharing a hard-earned skill in the creation of something beautiful brings love and enjoyment, as well as the development of teamwork skills that the student will find useful in all areas of life.
Jean has worked with students of all ages in both Illinois and Wisconsin, and she has worked as a private instructor within the Lawrence University Academy of Music and the Kenosha Unified school district. Along with teaching privately, Jean has worked as a coach and clinician with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, the UWM Summer Chamber Music camp, and the Band of the Black Watch in Kenosha, WI.
Along with the Gaudete Brass Quintet, Jean is also a member of the Wisconsin Wind Orchestra and has performed with the Racine Symphony Orchestra, the Festival City Orchestra of Milwaukee, and the Hot Springs Summer Festival Orchestra. She was also the 2004 winner of the Fred Schroeder Prize in Wind Performance. Jean received her Bachelor of Music degree from Lawrence University and Master of Music from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where she was the recipient of the Chancellor Fellowship Award.
