Marianne Parker

Civic Orchestra pianist teachers both traditional and Suzuki methods at NMS.

Marianne Parker has quickly made a reputation as an artful performer in her short time in Chicago. She is currently the principal pianist for the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, studying under Mary Sauer. 

In summer of 2008, Marianne had the opportunity to travel to Vienna, Austria to study at the Bösendorfer piano institute under Krassimera Jordan. While working toward her undergraduate degree at Missouri State University, she held the position of principal keyboardist-percussionist in the university’s Wind Ensemble, which toured the United States performing for various venues, including CBDNA’s national convention in Waco, Texas. 

Marianne is an active collaborative pianist, performing in solo recitals for virtually every instrument, as well as chamber ensembles, orchestras, and wind ensembles. Marianne's undergraduate degree is in music education from Missouri State University (2007). Her MM is in piano performance and pedagogy from the University of Tennessee (2009). Her primary teachers have been Drs. Wei-Han Su, David Northington, David Brunell, Krassimera Jordan. She currently studies with Ms. Mary Sauer, Principal Pianist for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In addition to teaching at the New Music School and performing with the Civic Orchestra, Marianne is the Music Director at the Second Unitarian Church of Chicago.
