Working with the students was a really fun experience both in the masterclass and private lessons. I found each one of the students engaged and excited about learning. What a gem New Music School is for the city of Chicago!”

The Flute Department at New Music School emphasizes the logical and engaging development of strong, reliable technique through inspiring and thoughtfully selected repertoire. From the very first lesson, students build a solid technical and tonal foundation through carefully sequenced studies that introduce new skills in a clear, progressive order.
This strong base enables students to approach standard flute repertoire with ease, confidence, and musical grace. As they advance, students explore works spanning the Baroque through contemporary eras while also studying major orchestral excerpts essential for well-rounded musicianship and advanced performance preparation. Beyond weekly lessons, flute students benefit from masterclasses with internationally recognized flutists and distinguished guest artists, gaining valuable insight into artistry, performance practice, and professional standards.
Flute instruction is available for children and adults at all levels, fostering technical excellence and expressive musicianship.
