Five years ago, Francisco Ybarra set out to offer the most rigorous music instruction for Chicagoland kids. Beginners start with the basics and move quickly to classical works. The enriched program also includes sight-reading and ear training, three recitals a year, competitions, concerts, and mentoring from Chicago Symphony Orchestra members, some of whom also teach.
Lessons average $35 for 30 minutes

New Music School has been named a Founding School by the Carnegie Hall and Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) The Achievement Program. The Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program (The Achievement Program) provides a recognized national standard of musical success through an effectively sequenced course of study from beginner to advanced levels.

The Achievement Program inspires excellence through individual student assessments and allows students to celebrate accomplishment and track their progress with others across the country. It also supports teachers with high-quality and innovative resources.

New Music School families, students, and friends of NMS pulled together to rally NMS to round two for the Chase Bank and Living Social's Mission Small Business Grant. Many thanks to all for their hard work in garnering 263 votes in less than 72 hours of notification!

Mission: Small Business℠ ("Program") is an effort by the Program Sponsors, Chase Bank USA, National Association ("Chase") and LivingSocial, Inc. ("LivingSocial") (individually or together "Sponsor" or "Sponsors") to increase awareness of the important role small businesses play in local communities and to help small businesses grow. As evidence of the commitment to small businesses nationwide, Chase will provide grants to eligible small businesses.

New Music School will host a Teacher Information Session for The Achievement Program.  All music teachers (all instruments) are cordially invited.  The Session is open to private and public teachers from all schools (not just NMS). 

The Session is scheduled for May 30th, 10 am- 1 pm @ 310 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60604.  Refreshments will be served.
